S/he Is Still Her/e

A Film by David Charles Rodrigues

This screening presents S/he Is Still Her/e, an intimate and boundary-breaking portrait of Genesis P-Orridge, directed by David Charles Rodrigues. More than a biography, the film is a meditation on identity, devotion, transformation, and the refusal of fixed form—both in art and in life.

Genesis P-Orridge—founder of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, and co-creator of the Temple ov Psychick Youth—spent decades challenging cultural limits around gender, authorship, spirituality, and the body. Central to the film is the concept of the Pandrogyny Project, a lifelong commitment shared with artist and partner Lady Jaye Breyer to dissolve individual identity into a collective, evolving being.

Rodrigues’ film unfolds as a deeply personal collaboration rather than an observational distance. Shot over several years and completed shortly after P-Orridge’s death, S/he Is Still Her/e weaves together interviews, performances, archival material, and moments of vulnerability—allowing Genesis to speak not only about art and influence, but about love, grief, illness, and continuity beyond the physical self.

The title itself becomes a philosophical statement: s/he is still her/e. Identity persists. Presence lingers. The self is not singular, not finished, not bound by the body or by time.
